Gateway Polytechnic Saapade was established vide the Enabling law
NO. H.B 30/OG/2005
which was passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly and assented
to by Ogun State Government on 27 February, 2006. The Polytechnic
was commissioned on Thursday 22nd June, 2006 as an Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) based institution. Our mission
statement is: "To promote ICT as an instrument of mass education,
provide ICT driven quality education, empower the individual to be competent,
responsible citizens who value education as a lifelong process. Our main objective
is to produce graduates of higher quality and value with unique expertise and necessary
ICT skills, to meet local and global challenges. Our aim is also, to equip our students
with the requisite skills that would make them the preferred in the labour market, as well
as make them creators of jobs and society leaders. The Gateway Polytechnic Saapade
is an investment in human capital development that will cater for the technological and
industrial needs of the growing population of Ogun State and Nigeria. Through
a strong emphasis on Entrepreneual skills, we will produce graduates who will be self
reliant and creators of jobs.
The Polytechnic will be developed to be one of the best in the country, especially in the
area of innovation and academic excellence and will apply consistent ingenuity, enterprise
and prudence in the management of its affairs.The Polytechnic, which was actually
established by the State Government in Ogun State is an ICT driven and was accepted
and recognised by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), meaning that all the
courses of study on offer have high ICT content and NBTE Accreditation. The operational
objective and goal of the Polytechnic is that on graduation, irrespective of the course of study,
every student will end up with a professional ICT certification in addition to either the
National Diploma (ND) or the Higher National Diploma (HND).
